The garage complex of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) at Uferstrasse, formerly a horse depot, was restructured and extended in 1926 by the architect Jan Krämer, who had already designed various streetcar depots all through Berlin. Until the year 2006 the UferHallen were the main garage of  BVG where its vehicles were repaired.
